Clubs
At our school, learning does not stop when the bell rings - it expands! Our after-school clubs and tutoring groups give students the chance to explore new interests, build confidence, and discover the joys of teamwork and creativity. Whether they are budding artists, curious scientists, enthusiastic athletes, or imaginative storytellers, there is a place for every child to shine.
Weikel Cheerleaders
The Weikel Elementary Cheerleaders are proud to be one of the few elementary school clubs in the district that require official tryouts. Our selection process spans two days and is conducted anonymously, ensuring that every student is chosen solely based on skill, motivation, P.A.C.K. behavior, and genuine team spirit.
Once selected, our cheerleaders commit to practicing twice a week, building strong technique, confidence, and camaraderie. You can catch them leading our school with pride every Friday during our Friday Morning Spirit Rally, a tradition that brings energy and unity to the entire Weikel community.
Introducing: The Weikel Spirit Squad
New this year, Weikel is excited to welcome the Weikel Spirit Squad! This team goes through the exact same rigorous, anonymous selection process as our cheerleaders. The Spirit Squad brings an extra boost of enthusiasm to school events and serves as a powerful addition to our student leadership and school pride programs. With their positivity and dedication, they help make every rally, assembly, and special event even more memorable.
Weikel Choir
The Weikel Choir is a dedicated group of talented students in grades 3–5, each hand-selected by our Music Teacher for their vocal potential, musicality, and commitment to the arts. This special ensemble meets once a week, working together to build strong singing skills, confidence, and a deep love of music.
Throughout the year, the Weikel Choir proudly represents our school with their musical talent by participating in district events, such as the recent community favorite, the Veterans Day Concert, where their voices help honor and inspire our community.
Stepping onto a stage and sharing your voice with an audience takes immense personal courage and growth. Our choir students learn to overcome nerves, embrace teamwork, and express themselves with confidence. Watching this growth unfold is truly amazing, and it’s one of the many reasons the Weikel Choir remains a treasured part of our school community.
Student Council
Our Student Council is a dedicated group of students committed to making Weikel Elementary an even better place to learn and grow. Each year, students apply by completing an application that asks why they want to serve, one change they would make to improve our school, and three qualities that make them a strong fit. Applications are scored using a detailed rubric, and the top 20 candidates are invited to an interview with district administrators and the Student Council co-leaders.
During these interviews, students answer five leadership-focused questions, which are also evaluated using a rubric. Based on the combined scores from the application and interview, 15 students are selected to serve as this year’s Student Council: our Leaders of the Pack.
Student Council members represent the student voice, promote school spirit, and lead meaningful projects that strengthen our community. Throughout the year, they develop key skills such as leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving while making a positive impact on our school.
The council meets once a week after school. Meetings are student-led, with guidance from the Student Council advisor, and typically include:
-
Checking in on ongoing projects and initiatives
-
Assisting with school events and activities
-
Brainstorming new ways to improve the school community
-
Discussing how to support students, teachers, and families
Native American Club
Weikel Elementary is proud to introduce our newest club: the Native American and Pacific Islander Club, led by Ms. Wall!
This club provides students with a meaningful opportunity to learn about and appreciate Native American and Pacific Islander cultures, traditions, and artistic expressions in a respectful and engaging way. Students meet once a week to explore topics such as traditional art, symbolism, and cultural history. Recent activities include creating totem poles, learning about Tlingit art, and designing beautiful Siapo cloths, all of which are featured in these photos.
The Native American and Pacific Islander Club encourages creativity, cultural awareness, and thoughtful discussion, helping students develop a deeper understanding and respect for Indigenous and Pacific cultures. We are excited to see our students learning, creating, and growing together through this wonderful new club.
Yoga Club
Yoga Club is a calming, confidence-building space where students learn to care for both their minds and bodies. Meeting twice a week, the club is led by our very own in-house yogi and First Grade teacher, Ms. Oliver, who brings her passion for movement, mindfulness, and student well-being into every session.
Each class follows a consistent and comforting routine. Students begin with a fun Yoga Game that builds community, encourages teamwork, and warms up the body. Next, they practice a few minutes of mindfulness and relaxation breathing, helping students focus, regulate emotions, and develop tools for managing stress. After that, the group moves into a guided yoga flow with real yoga poses, building strength, balance, and flexibility in a developmentally appropriate way. Every session ends with a peaceful relaxation pose, giving students a chance to unwind, reset, and feel grounded before returning to their day.
Participating in Yoga Club offers students a wide range of benefits, including:
-
Improved focus and concentration
-
Increased flexibility, coordination, and body awareness
-
Stronger emotional regulation skills
-
Reduced stress and anxiety
-
Greater confidence and self-esteem
-
Opportunities to practice kindness, patience, and resilience
Yoga Club is the perfect blend of movement, mindfulness, and fun; helping students build lifelong wellness skills while feeling supported, empowered, and connected.
Weikel Tutoring

Because we are in the student business, our students remain at the center of everything we do. Tutoring is not just extra practice - it is a commitment to meeting learners where they are, nurturing their progress, and celebrating every step forward. Our dedicated educators create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions, challenge themselves, and discover the joy of learning.
At Weikel, tutoring represents more than academics; it represents our belief that with the right support, every student can shine. Through compassion, connection, and high-quality instruction, we empower students to grow academically and personally, preparing them for success both in and beyond the classroom.
